National Drawing Day
Saturday May 24th 2008
11am to 3pm
Kilkenny Castle Park

It's time to pick up your pencils, pack a picnic and head for Kilkenny Castle Park… This year’s National Drawing Day takes place on Saturday May 24th from 11am – 3pm in Kilkenny Castle Park. The Butler Gallery are delighted to be involved in organising this large scale drawing event using the grounds of Kilkenny Castle as a drawing pad…. There’s no need to be able to draw… events are not based on traditional notions and there’ll be lots of different activities for adults and children of all ages. Thanks to all of the sponsors who have come on board – the OPW, Kilkenny Local Authority Arts Office and Taxback.com – all the events are FREE!!

We are inviting anyone and everyone to come join us for a creative, active and fun day out. All you need to do is to arrive at Kilkenny Castle anytime from 10.30 am onwards. Bring a cushion if you can as there are no chairs! There will be a registration system in place so that children and adults can participate in events.

We’ve planned an exciting variety of workshop events, led by experienced tutors. We’ll be wrapping sculptures, trees, making daisy chains, drawing with twigs, string, chalk and much more. Over the course of the day we will be transforming the Castle grounds. So even if you’re not in the mood for breaking through creative barriers there’ll be lots to see.

If you are interested in helping us out with this event we are looking for volunteers. You can volunteer by calling Butler Gallery on 056 7761106. Otherwise we will see you for lots of fun on Saturday 24th May!!!
