    Are you interested in the arts? Want to learn more & share your ideas with like-minded people?

    Butler Gallery & Barnstorm Theatre Co will host Culture Club 2018, an adult arts group with facilitated discussions and visits to theatre and visual art events during Kilkenny Arts Festival 2018. Past participants are welcome and we ask people to share widely with friends and family who you think might be interested.

    The Breadwinner: Children’s Storytelling

    Join us for Storytelling in the gallery, inspired by The Breadwinner, by Deborah Ellis and The Breadwinner Film, Directed by Nora Twomey.

    5-9 year olds:
    Storytelling with Hollie Kearns, Learning and Public Engagement Curator, Butler Gallery 11am – 11.30am Fridays: July 6th, 13th & 20th in Butler Gallery

    Ages 9+:
    Excerpts from The Breadwinner by Deborah Ellis, read by Catriona Kenneally, Loughboy Library Branch 3pm – 3.45pm Wednesdays: July 4th, 11th & 18th in Butler Gallery

    The Breadwinner: Artist-in-Residence

    An Artist-in-Residence will be present in the gallery at select times during the run of the exhibition and visitors will be able to make their own cut-out designs inspired by the cut-out style populating the Story World in The BreadwinnerNo Booking Required.

    There will be an artist-in-residence in the gallery every Tuesday 2 – 4pm, Thursday 2 – 4pm and Saturday 10am – 1pm & 2 – 5pm during the run of the exhibition. 

    Paul Bokslag is a Callan, Co. Kilkenny based visual artist from the Netherlands. He is a co-founder and facilitator at KCAT Arts Centre. Cutting paper forms an important part of his practice. He has shown his work in numerous exhibitions around Ireland and abroad, from wall based abstract pieces and posters to large room filling installations. www.paulbokslag.com


     

    Suitable for children aged 5-12 years, our FREE Children’s Programme invites children into the Gallery to have their say about the exhibition and make their own work in response. Facilitated by professional artists, these activities encourage children to express their opinions, learn about art and use a variety of interesting and exciting materials to create their own art works.

    Butler Gallery invites people living with dementia and their family, friends or professional carers to visit our exhibitions, to look and discuss with others in a safe and welcoming environment.
