A series of artists talks by Cartoon Saloon artists and directors will be held during The Breadwinner exhibition. Join us for an exclusive look behind the scenes of the making of the film.

Wednesday 4th July: ‘What’s your story?’
Meet with Paul Young (Cartoon Saloon CEO & co-founder) and other key crew to hear about the paths they took to end up in animation in Kilkenny and working on The Breadwinner.
Wednesday 11th July:
In-depth Discussion on the Storyworld sequence of The Breadwinner. Listen to how the unique and beautiful cut-out animation of the Storyworld sequence came to life.

The Breadwinner: Children’s Storytelling

The Breadwinner: Artist-in-Residence
An Artist-in-Residence will be present in the gallery at select times during the run of the exhibition and visitors will be able to make their own cut-out designs inspired by the cut-out style populating the Story World in The Breadwinner. No Booking Required.
There will be an artist-in-residence in the gallery every Tuesday 2 – 4pm, Thursday 2 – 4pm and Saturday 10am – 1pm & 2 – 5pm during the run of the exhibition.
Paul Bokslag is a Callan, Co. Kilkenny based visual artist from the Netherlands. He is a co-founder and facilitator at KCAT Arts Centre. Cutting paper forms an important part of his practice. He has shown his work in numerous exhibitions around Ireland and abroad, from wall based abstract pieces and posters to large room filling installations. www.paulbokslag.com
Suitable for children aged 5-12 years, our FREE Children’s Programme invites children into the Gallery to have their say about the exhibition and make their own work in response. Facilitated by professional artists, these activities encourage children to express their opinions, learn about art and use a variety of interesting and exciting materials to create their own art works.
