    Exhibitions Programme
    The Butler Gallery is committed to exhibiting the work of young and emerging artists alongside renowned international artists. We support and promote the development of artists careers through a wide range of professional development services.

    Collection
    The Butler Gallery Permanent Collection was established in 1943. The collection includes works by Tony OíMalley, Jack B Yeats, Sir John Lavery, Evie Hone, Sean McSweeney, Maine Jellet, Gerard Dillon, Louis le Brocquy, Dorothy Cross, Felim Egan and Tony Cragg. Your support will help us develop this important collection which provides a credible account of 20th century art in Ireland and has put Kilkenny firmly on the artistic map. In addition to our permanent collection the Basil Goulding Collection has been on long-term loan to the Butler Gallery since 1990.

    Butler Gallery MembershipEducation and Outreach
    The Education and Community programmes deliver exciting and engaging projects to a wide ranging and diverse audience. These include SOLAS, Artist in Schools, the 5 to 6 Kilkenny Womens art project, Re-Produced and Artist in Health schemes. We aim to instill a sense of creativity, fun and understanding of the visual arts in adults and children of all ages.

    Future Development
    The Butler Gallery is supported by the Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht in its plans to relocate to a space that can better accommodate our collection and our future expanding needs.
