May to June, 2011
The annual Artist in Residency in Schools Programme commenced once again during the final term of the school year. This year saw printmaking taking place in Hugginstown, a project that focused on the senses in Paulstown, clay-making linked to literature in Stoneyford, animation in Clara, painting and mask-making in Johnstown and a final installation at Inistioge of sculptural pieces made of found materials and fabric exploring meaning and humour in the work or Vera Klute.
The following artists and schools took part in the programme in 2011:
Amelia Peart – St. Brendan’s National School, Newmarket, Hugginstown
Annabel del Court Konig – Scoil Bhride, Paulstown
Helen Faulkner – Scoil Chiarain Naofa, Stoneyford
Mairead Holahan – St. Colman’s National School, Clara
Rachel Burke – St. John of God Primary School, Johnstown
Tunde Toth – St. Colmcille’s National School, Inistioge
The Butler Gallery co-funds residencies with participating schools, accepting applications from schools on an annual basis.
